  2. I was actually respected for speaking against some of the ideas in my sociology class. When my professor brought up overpopulation, I said "if there are too many people, how many people should there be? Quantitative arguments need quantitative evidence." When he brought up the pay-gap, I said "women don't have the same number of years of continued service in the same fields as men because women have children and work part-time more often than men". I disagreed in a manner that was respectful and backed by evidence. He gave me an A. So maybe respectful, evidence-based disagreement is the only solution moving forward.
