@basscannonjake1235 Why don't you move there? They changed their skilled worker policy so you can have de facto permanent residence if you want.

The Yuan Dynasty of China did equally horrible things to Japan.

@baiaili80 They see it as reparations for the Boxer Rebellion and the Nanking.

@fraserodonnell7618 It's a bit more complex. Japan and China both dislike each other. During the Heian Period of Japan around 1000 CE, Japan admired China and wanted to be like China. They copied China's language, writing, financial system, architecture, government organization, religion; basically all things of the Tang/Song Dynasties. China subtly took advantage of this as a gradual form of cultural imperialism, without the need for military force. But then the Mongols took power in China and tried to invade Japan. Ever since then, they've repeatedly been invading each other. They especially fought over control of Korea. WWII and the subsequent rise of the CCP has only exacerbated this 1000-year-old rivalry. The United States has it's own agenda with the rivalry but it's the only thing protecting Japan from China. If not for the US, China will invade Japan and continue what was started 1000 years ago.

What has Japan invented beside the Walkman? I'm not a big fan of the CCP but China invented paper, gun powder, and the precursor to the automobile. Japan's Soft Power policy and heavily subsidized pop culture industry is the only thing giving Japan an edge. Without that, Japan would just have manufacturing robots. The jealousy coming from the mainland is more a testament to China's insecurity. China was a soft power juggernaut under Chiang Kai-shek.

Taiwan forgave Japan. CCP is just using it to maintain populist support.

It used to be the reverse back when Chiang-kai Shek was in power. China was the darling of the West and Japan wanted to be them. Mao ruined all that.
