I don't know if it's racism, people just feel naturally more empathic towards those who look like them and speak the same language and share similar cultural values, as long as we are human this will continue and it does take a slight intellectual jump to overcome it. I think the Saudi's are both suppliers and customers- In short they are reliable and the West can do business with them, Russia was too and it was business as usual until Putin went feral.

Labour parties have been dying since they've become more concerned with fringe identity politics issues rather than economic ones, this has led to a fracturing of the Left, the oppression of women and sexual and racial minorities all stem from the same roots- Economic inequality. In a market system if you have economic rights all your other rights will naturally follow. Marx said Workers of the world unite! not divide according to gender race and sexuality, this distraction from economic inequality and putting the cart before the horse has damaged the Left with more traditional majority working class communities who being neglected and abandoned turned to nihilism and anarchy in the shape of Trump and brexit.
