I think the best OS for a Grandma is probably Chrome-Book OS. Even though privacy is not possible with a chrome book, they never seem to care about that issue; they won't even get off of Zuckbook. You will save many many hours that would have been wasted educating them and providing free tech support for whatever other OS you could have set them up with.

@robbraxmantech That's a good point. The Chrome book is a bit of a hyperbolic solution. I suppose a few hours of educating and tech support is actually a small price to pay to help protect privacy, even if they don't really appreciate why it's so important.

@terrydaktyllus1320 It's just wishful loser think because it's very tempting to just give up and go with the path of least resistance. Especially after hearing about my friend's experience with their grandparents not having any major tech problems in the 7 years since switching from windows to chrome book and even upgrading to new ones during that time. They had an upgraded new chrome book, ready to rock, after less than 15 minutes of set-up time to fully transfer all their data and setting to the new computer with no complaints. Luckily Rob reminded me that at least some of my privacy depends on them because they're communicating with ME through their technology.
