@cloudsculptor1 I think it's part of the 'facial recognition' unlock feature. Super sketchy in my opinion. Apple is now holding peoples photos and icloud data hostage to try and force people to update to contact tracing versions of the IOS. They are bloody criminals I tells yah! Criminals!

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't have a chance against the public when it becomes aware and has an uprising. They'd burn to the ground faster than a Wendy's Restaurant during a riot. I guess that's life in the big city!

@deusrx9671 Well if we bring that to it's logical conclusion for example if they have nothing to say; maybe we should get rid of the 1st amendment, no more free speech. If they have nothing to hide maybe we should get rid of the 4th amendment. If you don't drink alcohol maybe we should just bring back prohibition. It's a slippery slope.

When it comes to updates; I'd rather take my chances with the hackers and compatibility issues than accept the new contact tracing and increased level of surveillance unlocked by the system updates.

@parallax9281 The off button just makes it to where you don't see it even though they're still collecting and looking at your data. Plus we probably gave them full permission from scrolling to the end of End User License Agreements and clicking accept.

Laptops don't have those issues. They are much safer overall.

When your device is "off" how do you know it's off unless you take the battery out. Oh wait more and more phones are glueing the battery in. It's well known that your device can be turned on remotely with the screen off and without any sign that it's been turned on.

They will burn out your wifi and cellular connection chips because the lack of signal puts the phone into overdrive searching for a signal and trying to phone home.

Faraday bags have lots of issues including the fact that they will just destroy your device if it's on inside the faraday cage because it sends the device into overdrive looking for a signal...

@terrydaktyllus1320 There's literally know way to know that your phone is actually off if the battery is still in there. Pay attention when Rob speaks. They can remotely turn on your phone without the screen turning on.
