It's just that her Zuckbook seems to be the biggest leak of information when it comes to my internet privacy; photos of me with location metadata that end up getting tagged from Christmas, Thanksgiving and other family functions where pictures may be taken and shared on social media.

Bruh, I'm with you and I get what you're saying but honestly at the same time you should look into getting some talk therapy because these kinds of events can be really traumatic to the point where you could be left with mental health issues; ptsd, growing paranoia, and stress triggering a psychotic break from reality. Eventually these symptoms could get so bad that you end up trying to take the law into your own hands and getting arrested.

  93. If you create your own vpn you miss out on the benefits of having your traffic mixed in with everyone else's traffic on the same IP Address... I'd recommend either a stealth vpn or at least trying to get 40 to 60 other people onto your private vpn to make it look like the IP Address of a small office. The most tricky bit is how to cover the cost of bandwidth which usually requires a large benefactor or small membership fee.

  101. There a video I watched that sorta tries to answer that question called "The Silk Road: The Rise and Fall of the World's Largest Online Black Market." There seemed to be a double cross; Dread Pirate Roberts (Ulbrict owner of silk road got blackmailed by friendly chemist. A third party contacted Dread Pirate Roberts saying the chemist owed them money. Dread Pirate Roberts then told the debt collectors that he wanted a hit put on friendly chemist and offered his full address. The third party named a price $100-300k then Dread Pirate Roberts said that price was high; he had a clean hit done previously for $80k and tried to haggle for a lower price. The end price was 150k in bitcoin and the third party claimed the hit was done and even sent a picture that DPR seemed to be happy with. Only problem was that they couldn't prove that murder but the whole conversational exchange gave 3 letter agencies enough time to complete the timing attack to find DPR and shut down the silk road taking Ulbrict into custody in the process. There was a previous anonymous account called altoid where DPR messed up royally by posting about the same subject on both accounts and gave out his personal email address while using the altoid idenity. Later he accidentally zucked himself again asking a technical question related to how silk road about how to use pearl and php with TOR to link hidden services on his real identity account and latter changed his name to frosty the same name used in ssh strings on the silk road. They ended up arresting him for Money Laundering, Narcotics Conspiracies, and Computer Hacking. The craziest part is that the government spent millions taking down the Silk Road yet within days someone had created a new one; Silk Road 2.0 and about 5 other competing sites popped up made by armchair programmers.

It's possible that proton mail is a honey trap and that at the very least it puts you on a list of people who have marked themselves as possibly having something to hide. It's a bit better to use your own private email server communicating only with people who you've issued emails from your domain to with the same @name so it doesn't have to jump from server to server. Thunderbird is the only email client Rob's tested so far that doesn't open the emails and beacon attack up for you in the background.
