I also recall an occasion when I was a chef for a Church of England pilgrims' hospice in Israel in the 1990's when one of the young volunteers who was a bit of a cheeky chappie was sitting at the coffee break table and he spat his coffee all over the table when an American elderly lady guest said to him he was full of spunk! Words can have different connotations in different languages. I came across many such hilarious "crossovers" when I learned to read, write & speak Hebrew, which if recounted would make a small pamphlet of its own! And mistakes help us learn! ☺

Loved it. A favourite topic of mine, especially noticeable as a chef when I worked abroad, with differences such as rubbish being garbage, scones being biscuits, biscuits being cookies, baps being buns, buns being cakes (cup cakes) and cakes being gateaux, and of course when cooking by gas, Americans put that in their cars or autos instead of what the Brits call petrol! 👨🍳 Love your videos. They are so educational and entertaining, and with a witty edge. 🤗
