Malachi is not the last book of the Tanakh. II Chronicles is. Only in the English translated "Old" Testament is Malachi the last book as the Gentiles changed the running order of the books. Malachi is from the Prophets section of the Tanakh i.e. "Nevi'im" which is the "N" in the T-N-K acronym of Torah-Prophets-Writings (Torah- Nevi'im-K'tuvim), but the Prophets are in the middle, not at the end. This means English Bibles disturb the 3 divisions Jews read.

Jewish is an ethnicity and the Church is made up of both Jews and Gentiles, just as it is made up of males and females. Both are one in Messiah but their distinctions remains.
