@badart3204 Well, it was certainly impactful at the time, steering China toward the West in many spheres. The fact that powers of suppression came later does not cancel out what was achieved at the time. A country without a good leader soon becomes like its leadership. You can't blame Christianity for that. Anyhow the 'Christian' West nowadays is now largely secular, so Christianity can wane quite quickly in any setting, not just in the far east.

@TtotheCizzel : People come from the hot Middle East. Not all are worshippers. ☀️ Rome eventually overtook Ireland through religion. Ireland thus became a Roman vassal state calling itself Roman Catholic after the pre-Roman Celtic Church was defeated at the Synod of Whiby in 664 which included the Sabbath/Passover keeping Patrick & others. ☘

@anthonywalker6276 Yes. (Trying to find the comment you are referring to, but I couldn't find it by scrolling down through the many above). I know that Chiang Kai Shek put his red official stamp on the grave of English missionary Gladys Aylward (from the Ingrid Bergman film about her life called "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness") as I trekked all the way up the mountainous region outside Taipei and saw her grave whilst laying flowers there on behalf of her family. He at least acknowledged aspects of her Christian virtues as worthy of being recognised.
