US is a net zero oil importer. It exports about the same as it imports and has done for years. OPEC does not care about the US. "The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) was founded in Baghdad, Iraq, with the signing of an agreement in September 1960 by five countries namely Islamic Republic of Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Venezuela. They were to become the Founder Members of the Organization." See the names of allies on that list!? US sanctions in Venezuela have crippled their economy. Your proven oil reserves will last 6-7 years at the current rate of consumption. Renewables will probably be cheaper than fossil fuels in the rest of the world before the US runs out of oil. Getting it yet?
