  1. If you look at history of China and relationships with various world powers it's pretty inevitable that future generations should be learning Mandarin in conjunction with local languages. All empires eventually collapse but he length of time any particular country has an empire has been getting shorter and shorter over the last few thousand years as technology advances plus complacency takes over. (not my idea, I read it years ago) The American empire (even though not official) probably doesn't have more than another few generations before the next 'empire' takes over unless something major comes along. Today I saw a headline about a factory in USA where children as young as 12 years old were being employed, the greedy get greedier and the rich get richer by 'looking the other way' - until they get caught but already have someone else to blame. (bit like the 'scandal' of 12 and 13 yr olds in China building iPhone's) Apple may be incredibly lucrative but they had moral breakdown more than 20 years ago
