  1. I'm with you on Scotchlock's, at best they last about 18 months but if your somewhere where they salt the road in winter - maybe first time out they fail. As mentioned in many posts, I would have scraped oxide off the heatsink and applied some thermal compound (I worked in motorcycle dealer workshops, motorcycles were using thermal grease in some components in early 1980's when it was MUCH harder to get hold of)
