I hate those tiny Hy-Vo chains. Heck of a coincidence to have the riveted link showing on a chain as long as the one in that motor (darker with paint mark, ~8:45) Personally, I would have turned crank backwards a few degrees to preload tensioner, particularly if it's hydraulic/mechanical, installed wedge then turned forward again to lock things in position (plus get a little more slack?) Years ago, (80's) Kawasaki used even smaller hy-vo on GPZ600. It wore out in as little as 18,000 miles. Honda 750/900/1000 at least lasted to about 35,000~50,000 miles and that was mainly due to poor servicing which caused 'long' tensioner to fail (it had two)
