  1. Bypass valve often opens at high rpm and also when engine is cold and oil is thick so unfiltered oil always goes through engine at some time. I don't like plastic filter housings for the simple reason of heat transfer. An aluminium housing will transfer some heat from oil to atmosphere 'better' than a plastic one
