the problem is people getting covered in shit who see CEO's paying themselves millions for doing actually very little. To be a good mechanic/technician you must have reasonable smarts and will wonder why pay is so low in comparison. In the 1980's, I was training motorcycle mechanics at dealership in Britain. Two of them went on to work at BOAC Maintenance, (or whatever it's called today?) third joined Police and is now a detective. All got much better paying jobs. Motorcycles are something where if it isn't done properly people can die. Having the right attitude to maintenance crosses over to aircraft quite easily. I moved to USA 1999 and worked at a 'trade school' in Orlando. The attitude of many of the 11,500 students I trained was 'if you ride a motorcycle and I do something wrong, it was your fault for riding a bike if you get hurt'. It was also the attitude of some instructors who were probably incapable of doing anything else? I had too many argument's with management about it and eventually was 'laid off' I guess younger people still think they can just download a fix?
