  1. It really sound like they were victims of the 'old boy' network? Probably got several people at air ministry 'very annoyed' that they exceeded design parameters when they were obviously being set up to fail. The plane would probably be even more famous than Spitfire if they had been given a RR Merlin instead of a train engine At least some good came out of the tragedy though and it's actually really nice to know the company is still going and a world leader.
