  2. In Britain, BBC gets money from TV licenses and ad free. Independent television is ad supported but otherwise 'free' Cable TV used to be subscription to avoid ads but I haven't lived in Britain 25 years so no idea whats happening today? In USA, cable TV is subscription plus ads which just shows the greed of cable TV providers as they sure as hell ain't using the money to provide better content in majority of shows
