  2.  @rareform6747  Planned obsolescence was borrowed from the 1950 auto industry, now, 'everyone' does it. Air conditioners that should last 15~20 years are now expected to be changed after 10~12 years. While greed is the major cause for poor lifespan instead of extended life in mechanical components, apathy is the cause in 'average' American. There is no chance to 'save the planet'

  4. If you really want to talk about scams, look into insurance 'industry' It's disgusting. I have an insurance license but have never sold any as I couldn't bring myself to rip people off to the extent required. Also, the 'exam' to get an insurance license isn't exactly difficult but only 17% passed the month I took it which means 83% failed. (I think anyone can look up the numbers but not sure as it may only be candidates ?)
