For those who are not empowered to leave meetings, there's a really useful technique that you can use. This also applies to other things that you have no control over. You escalate them to someone who can do something about it. There's a retrospective technique where you put things that went well or badly in one axis and things that you have control over on the other, then you split it into quadrants. The things that went badly and you can change, you come up with action points to change. The things that went badly and you can't change, you escalate.

I find that you can do this without the ad hoc meeting actually being a meeting. You can generally just "take this offline" by just starting a thread on slack. Really, it could have been on slack the whole time and should probably never have waited for the daily meeting, but people underestimate how much discussion there will be, so they think it will be a quick thing in the daily
