  1. It's pretty simple. If you want to get paid, use a license that requires payment. If you want to consume third party dependencies, use fixed versions, continuous integration with automated tests, a tool to scan your dependencies, and a tool to update your dependencies as commits that must be tested. Where I work we use whitesource and renovate for these (commercial software but worth it)
