It’s no surprise. Turkiye is apparently still a Muslim-majority country. A return to a Caliphate style of government under Erdogan is quite natural. And this is according to many Turks whom I’ve met while travelling in Turkiye. Erdogan’s economics are also following the Islamic Sharia model.

@karenhastings8561 If you are a devout Muslim, you would see Erdogan as a "saviour" whether you are rich or poor. He represents the return of the Ottoman Caliphate. Erdogan is the 'strong horse' who can save them. It's very hard to separate this from Islam.

@Sadoyasturadoglu : That's interesting, however Erdogan's policy of cutting interest rates in times of high inflation does seem to be unorthodox and more in line with the "islamic principles" which he frequently cites. I guess time will tell if his 'thesis' on economics pays off. I wish all Turkish people and President Erdogan a very happy and prosperous future...🙏
