Did you get that theory from some false prophet?
2
@ajmalsafi13 : Nope. There's no mention of Jerusalem in the Qur'an. Jerusalem only came into the picture later, as an important place of political conquest against the Jews and Christians.

@obscurifyed : Islam's main purpose seems to have been to unite the Arabs and then be a force for conquering and invading.

Walleyed : They don't use the Bible to prove the Bible. They use the writings of Roman-Jewish historian Josephus. Did you bother to watch the documentary?

@walleyed8034 : I believe it is common knowledge. Maybe you are talking to people who have faith and don't need to look for evidence? Flavius Josephus wrote "Antiquities of the Jews" between 71-93 AD, around 40-60 years after the death of Jesus. He was born in Jerusalem just four years after the crucifixion so was extremely close in time and place. There are also Roman records regarding Pontius Pilate's regime, including personal letters from his wife, one which mentions Jesus (at least that's what that documentary said, but I haven't researched it myself). The Roman historian Tacitus wrote in about 64 AD, around 31 years after the death of Jesus, and he mentions a man called Christus, the founder of the new religion. There is also physical evidence of crucifixions happening at the time of the death/resurrection of Jesus, plus some archeological ruins of a town believed to be Nazareth. When you put all this together with the detailed record of Jesus from the four Gospels and other New Testament writings, it's fairly clear that Jesus was more than likely a real person. The Josephus and Tacitus evidence is most important because they were not biased towards Jesus and their writings coincide with the story of Jesus in the Gospels.

@walleyed8034 : Yes it appears that's how historic evidence works. Put all of the facts together, and the conclusion is that it is very likely that Jesus was a real person. It sucks when you don't get the result you want, doesn't it?
1
@benjalucian1515 : You could be right, thanks. I'm not religious. No matter the origin, it's the message of Jesus that is of value for me.
1
@benjalucian1515 : Or a false prophet came along to spread a different story to fit his own god's agenda?
