So how would you describe the difference between ISIS and the Taliban?

@jasonbernard5468 : Fair enough, however the ideology of Islam obligates ALL Muslims to struggle (practice jihad) to live under a Caliphate and to bring about the submission of ALL humanity to their 'god' Allah. So as soon as a group gains power, it moves to the next step. The Taliban are focussed on Afghanistan right now. That's really the only difference. The fundamentals are exactly the same, so Dan Crenshaw was absolutely correct. They all pledge allegiance to the 'ummah', the global Islamic collective. Thankfully the vast majority of Muslims are better than Islam.

@jasonbernard5468 : You say that "many Islamic teachers don't practice that kind of Islam". There is only ONE Islam, though thankfully most Muslims ignore the parts they don't like, or they use an interpretation that feels good. However there is a percentage, maybe around 10-15%, who DO interpret the Islamic texts in a very literal way. It is this 10-15% who are, as Dan Crenshaw says, "all on the same team". They tell us their objective is to spread Islam until all humanity is governed by Sharia. To ignore that is just silly.

@jasonbernard5468 : Their practice may differ, and the Taliban are indigenous to Afghanistan so they have a different focus at this time, but both groups follow the same ideology with the same end goal. I agree that trying to create greater division between them would be very useful, but it's a bit late now that Biden has withdrawn completely.

@jasonbernard5468 : An 'ideology' is a system of ideas and ideals, a set of rules for a political and social system. Islam is a complete way of life (a 'deen'). It does have a religious dimension, but the political and legal dimension is most important. Islam is quite different to Christianity which is a personal relationship with Jesus.
