  2.  @richardgabriel1801 : Egypt has been occupied by many different civilisations, including Romans, Greeks, French and English, and the Persians, Arabs and Ottomans. The favourite foods from these other civilisations have been adopted by the Egyptians, and vice versa. It's likely that cookies originated in 7th century Persia. After the Muslim conquest of Egypt they brought their foods to the Egyptians. After the Muslim conquest of Spain, their foods spread to Europe. Butter cookies are famous in Denmark.
