The new country of Israel was only possible because the Allied Powers defeated the Ottoman Empire in 1918. Out of that same defeat the Arabs in the Middle East gained self-determination in 99% of the dismembered Ottoman land, in countries today called Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Jordan. The Jews were acknowledged as indigenous to the Holy Land and they were given the right to reconstitute their ancestral home, so long as the current occupants have equal rights and freedom of worship, which they have today. One fifth of Israeli citizens are Arab Muslims. How is this in any way comparable to the Irish situation? The co-called Palestinians sided with those Arab nations which attempted to annihilate Israel. You can't make peace with hostile people.

@snshull : Terrorism has a specific definition. It's when an ideological group targets civilians to promote their cause. It's disgusting. Resistance has its place, but leave innocent people out of it.

SCBotanicals : We know that the majority of Arabs only arrived in Palestine AFTER the British and Zionists began to develop the infrastructure and economy from 1918. They tried to take advantage of what they thought would be a good thing. Then they sadly lost all of their wars against Israel.
