I think the Israeli forces suspected there was more going on than 'peaceful praying'. It reminds me of the poem that landed Erdogan in jail..."The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers".

It happens when Hamas explicitly calls for Muslims to go out in force on Temple Mount, and to stop Jewish activity on the holiest site for the Jews "at any cost". Ramadan is a time for greater rewards for Islamic jihad.

@maqboolusman2914 : We've all seen photos of the rocks and stones that have been stockpiled. And we know that many mosques are used for storage of weapons. I'm surprised that Israeli security permits use of the al-Aqsa Mosque when tensions are running so high after the terror attacks of the last two weeks.

@maqboolusman2914 : Israeli forces are defending their sovereign country against Islamic terror attacks. They are defending ALL Israeli citizens, Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, etc., against the explicit call by Hamas for Muslims to enact violence on Temple Mount. Israel = Ukraine.

@palestinabaddie : Yes I'm living within hours of the borders of both Israel and Gaza. So I should understand what exactly? All sovereign countries have the right to defend their citizens from calls to enact violence. Hamas explicitly called for Palestinians to go to Temple Mount in their hundreds and thousands and to stop Jewish activist activity at the flashpoint holy site “at any cost.” Where I am there is also tension. A Coptic Christian Priest was killed in Alexandria nine days ago, and 14 Israeli citizens were killed in the last few weeks in Israel.
