"Squatters' Rights" happens all over the world. An owner should never leave their property vacant.

@Erza Scarlet: If you leave your property vacant for a period of time, then you run the risk of squatters taking up residence. This is law in many countries. In the UK, if a squatter remains continuously living in a vacant property for ten years, he can claim ownership. They are not robbers. They have 'squatters rights'. It sounds crazy but I guess it's to ensure that all homes are being rented out, and not left vacant and idle.

Sparrow : It's been said that these people have a purchase agreement with the owner. As far as Israeli law is concerned, they need to have this contract upheld in court, and the transfer of land title also has to be approved by the Israeli government. In which case they can probably live there for as long as it takes to go through the court and approval process. Let's see what happens. The government might evict them. In some other countries, such as the UK, squatters' rights DO exist. And in most developed countries it is against the law to prevent a vendor from selling property to an ethic group, as we see happening in Israel where Palestinians are punished if they sell to Jews. That's called #apartheid and #racism. Are you a property lawyer in Israel? If so, please feel free to continue to enlighten us.

Sparrow : No I'm an Australian living in Sinai, with a background in property law. I trust the Israeli source of the information. It would set a great precedent if the sale proceeds, so it's a very interesting situation.

Sparrow : For me, this topic is about facts and rule of law. It's interesting because the #fatwa against Palestinians selling property to Jews is being challenged, and there are always lots of ways to get around it. I have a friend who owns a huge property in Gaza. He's selling it in Dubai to a company, and who do you think will end up owning that company? The discriminatory #apartheid practice of preventing the sale of property to a certain ethnic group should be exposed in the international court.

Sparrow : I haven't deviated from facts and rule of law, especially where property is concerned. Feel free to dispute my facts.

Sparrow : Yes a country can pass its own laws depending upon its unique situation or values, and that's why I asked if you understood Israeli property law. However, there are international agreements relating to *human rights*. Not all countries sign up to them but there is often pressure brought to bear on those countries or territories whose rights fall below the standards of the international community. And it's always good to #expose them.

SCBotanicals : Not all facts can be revealed if there's a security risk for one party or another.

Sparrow : You're welcome...🙏

Yes, empty properties are always at risk of squatters coming in and staying. If they stay long enough, they can claim legal title to the property.
