  1. My criticism of Islam is mostly with its horrible rights for women and children. Female child marriage, a man permitted to have four wives under Sharia, inequality in divorce (and if she entered into a Nikah ceremony and not a civil marriage, then she doesn't have recourse to a UK civil court ruling), a man permitted to beat his wife if he 'fears her disobedience', for a few examples. It's the general theme of men being in control of their women who carry the family's 'honour' that bothers me. I don't know how Muslim women in the west still accept this.

  2.  @robm8809 : I'm totally with you on this, especially as I live mostly in Muslim-majority countries. I just find it easier to begin with the human rights angle. I have Muslims friends who have no idea about what their ideology teaches, but some are slowly waking up so I feel positive about the overall trend.
