  1. I can't believe that Indians are STILL blaming the British for 'divide and rule' like the lady speaker did. You've had 70 years to sort this out. And the British could only 'divide' when the parties/religions were amenable to divisions, such divisions which we still see flourishing today! India must mature and put aside this victimhood status and pass a new personal law that suits India as ONE nation. This law can then be followed voluntarily by a person from any religion, though of course it may result in exclusion from that religious group. This would create difficulties for women who have little independence so a 'safety net' for them must also be provided by the state, either by enforcing maintenance from ex-partners or government assistance. And Swamy is NOT completely correct about Muslims in Australia. When they were small in number and power, they had no choice but to accept Australia's civil code. Now that Muslim numbers have grown they want to follow Sharia. Muslims also have parallel Sharia courts in the UK which surely is a backward step.
