Twelve years ago I was invited to become a Muslim by my Moroccan friends. I said I must study islam first. What I found out shocked me, especially the low status of women and girls in Islam. It's forbidden to critically examine Islam and speak out. Millions of people born into Muslim families want to leave the ideology but they are trapped.

@chucklesthered2338 : Thanks for sharing this. I was quite mature when I had a relationship with a Libyan-Egyptian man whom I met in Damascus. At first it seemed lovely that he put lots of rules on me "because he cared so much about me". Slowly but surely you find yourself submitting. Thankfully I had to fly to London four months later and I escaped his manipulation, but I maintained a long-distance relationship with him for some years. He finally managed to get into Italy with a people-smuggling group, but it didn't go well for him there. He became a #jihadi and started to call me disgusting things. He's now disappeared and may not even be alive.

Female children can be married off by their guardian before they have menstruated in numerous Islamic countries today. This is permitted [halal] according to Qur'an 65:4. Child marriage is also Sunnah because the prophet of Islam consummated his marriage to Aisha while she was only a prepubescent nine year old child [Sahih al-Bukhari 6130 Book 78, Hadith 157].

@victorvolobuev507 : I agree. Most Muslims have better morals than Islam. People born into a Muslim family are not permitted to "do the research" because that could cause them to doubt Islam. It's a horrible cycle, and almost impossible to get out of if they live in a country which punishes blasphemy (criticism of Islam).

@chinavirus841 : I don't think so. Islam is losing power. The trend is for Muslims to leave Islam because they are discovering that it's an imposter religion. It is primarily an ideology for invading and conquering, and that strategy doesn't work in the 21st century. The prophet of Islam knew it would come to an end.

@zahidnoori6874 : Asking questions and debating Islam are quite different from "critically examining" Islam. Why are apostates punished severely when they are caught speaking in a critical way about Islam? When you ask a question, for example about girl-child marriage, multiple wives, or wife-beating, can you reject the answer of the Quran or Hadiths if it goes against your own moral judgement? Quran 49:15 seems to make it clear that you cannot be critical about anything in the Quran, or in the example of Muhammed, and remain a Believer. "The ˹true˺ believers are only those who believe in Allah and His Messenger—never doubting—and strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah. They are the ones true in faith."

@zahidnoori6874 : Blasphemy is no longer considered wrong by most religious people except Muslims. Freedom of speech is far more important. When people can't speak freely, they are oppressed, and societies do not progress. It has nothing to do with being insulting or inciting hatred. Being critical and rejecting behaviour that is NOT compatible with 21st century life is important. Things such as multiple wives, girl-child marriage, wife beating, inequality in divorce, rape in marriage, inequality between men and women and Muslims and non-Muslims, freedom to leave Islam and speak out to others about why you left. Islam has many things that go against the human rights that the vast majority of the world practices. Do you live in an Islamic Sharia ruled country?
