  1. My New Zealand grandfather Jack Tatham died fighting the Ottoman Turks. He succumbed to malaria three weeks before the Ottoman Empire surrendered on 11-11-1918, and is buried in the British Military Cemetery in Ramle. He fought in the Sinai-Palestine Campaigns so that the Jews could have their promised land (Balfour Agreement) and so we in the Southern Hemisphere did not have to fear living under Islamic law (sharia). The Arab Muslims gained self-determination in more than 99% of the liberated Middle East Ottoman Empire land, today called Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria and Jordan. Israel is on less than 1% of the liberated land. Those 'Palestinians' who refused to accept their new Jewish rulers should have moved to Jordan or elsewhere in the Arab world, in the same way that the Indians and Pakistanis relocated when they achieved independence from the British at about the same time as Israel. It's only the 'Palestine issue' that is kept alive today. I'm still sad not to have ever known my grandfather, and my own father was only four when he last saw his father, but it was worth the sacrifice. I stand with Israel.
