  1. There are 2 false assumptions here: 1. "We have boxed ourselves into a corner." 2. The "Ukrainians" are an ethnic group/"Ukraine" needs to be a country. 1. The US is not a decision maker nor does its position carry any importance within the Greek Empire. 2. The "Ukrainian" nation has been in the making since the Bolshevik coup, but it started to intensify from 1989- when the Supreme Soviet of Ukrainska SSR decreed that Galizian (they called it "Ukrainian") will replace the native language of Ukraine and become official. Now, Galizian/"Ukrainian" is only native to the Lvov and Lutsk regions. That's about the size of "Ukraine" we are willing to recognise.
