  1. They don't do it for the measly £90k. They make millions in kickbacks and bribes. Parliament was never intended to represent the serfs. It is a mechanism to sort out disputes within the oligarchy without going into civil war or violent skirmishes. The rules they impose are called "Acts" because they involve a lot of theatre. The salary was introduced because the oligarchy could not be bothered and didn't like the idea of being the object of constant hate, so they outsourced the job of attending Parliament to eager lower level psychopaths.
