The earliest mention I could find is Duke of "Rothes" (Scottish corruption of the Greek name Rodos). He was a banker who financed both sides of the Civil War and had to run away to Germany. His grandsons returned to England under the pseudonym "Roth's child".

It is a self-defeating exercise. My explanation to you why the US colony does not give orders to the UK was deleted. I took my eye off the screen for a few minutes so I don't know if Google did it or you flagged it. Either way you will learn soon enough on your own.

@aidanmagill6769 That's just splitting hairs. It used to be Minoan colony before the Greeks came from Asia Minor and annexed the Aegean Empire. Maybe I am not correct to bunch the Minoans with the Greeks but you have to remember that "Greek" is an artificial identity like "Soviet" or "British" which the Anatolian colonists created when they colonised South Thrace.
