"and instead faced what most assumed would be certain death." Actually no! He asked Israeli PM, Naftali Bennett to ask Putin if he is going to assassinate him, and Putin said - "no". Also Zelenski ran on - "make peace with Russia, we are the same people" platform and won. He has become a British puppet dictator, since he did not mange to take control of the Junta.
