  2. As happens often, David Frum, once a Canadian if I'm not mistaken, is right again. Exactly right. He also said some years back that the Right will abandon the constitution before they abandon power, or words to that effect. He's right about that, and we've seen it. Jake, we're in a situation that reminds me of Stephen King's "The Stand." The rotters flock to "The Dark Man", while the good flock to "Mother Abigail", and society splits quite clearly. That's where we are.

  3. The majority of 5 on the SCOTUS is mostly lawless and irrational. Purely ideological. The 4 that voted against this ruling are COMPLETELY lawless, irrational and malign. TWO of them are overt insurrectionists. When you're that, you've abandoned all merit for the SCOTUS. And I've studied constitutional law, got the top grade in the class in 1L, and have read the cases ever since over 4 decades. This majority is unhinged. Everything that mattered for 230 years, precedent, stare decisis, judicial restraint, decorum, the institution - it's all out the window with this crew.

Isn't it curious that the MAGA who have gleefully pilloried Joe Biden for the manner of withdrawel from Afghanistan, a war that started when we invaded long LONG before Joe's watch, are now the ones abandoning an actual hard-fighting and freedom-loving ally in a war of aggression started by Russia? There is no more useless or contemptible Falange than the MAGA Falange, a wholely owned subsidiary of the Kremlin criminal mob and their underboss in the USA, Trump.

It's heart-breaking to me that these patriotic Ukrainian men and women, civilians and soldiers, have to respond to the endless philistine browbeating and lies from Trump about their "lack of appreciation", when they plainly DO appreciate what Americans and Europeans are doing for them -- they're just busy fighting to save their country. Trump is a bottomless humiliation.
