  1. That protest of Russians, faces shown and holding signs in public demanding the officials' sons replace their own men at the front - THAT is the "iskra" - the spark of revolution in Russia, I'm betting on it. THAT, amid all of this, encourages me that Russia is on the path to its own doom.

The fact that at this late hour in the disaster, all these Russian soldiers are "appealing to the prosecutor's office" and the Dictator himself for "justice", in spite of the obviousness of their absolute doom and all of administrative Russia's complete disinterest in it and in them, is just pathetic.
