There is very little alimony happening. Most of the support is child support. The only woman I know who gets alimony, got divorced in her late fifties after 20 years of marriage. Alimony was awarded because her husband earns $350,000 per year. Plus she wasn't working, as they decided years ago that she would quit her job so they could live part-time in the mountains. The alimony is $50,000 per year for 10 years. After that, she will be entitled to social security. This isn't the usual divorce case though. I should add that early in the marriage, she financially supported him so he could start his business. Seems fair.

Yes, and she only gets $50,000 of the $350,000 he makes. The majority of men don't make that kind of money or have to pay that kind of money. He still keeps the lion's share of his income even after 20 years of marriage.
