  1. Icecinder, everything you said in defense of Big Pharma has been debunked repeatedly. It was an ice age ago that 60 Minutes (just one example) did an in-depth piece proving it's just price control. There was a Big Pharma executive who got in trouble for saying that in Europe, they can trade with each other for the lowest costs and they do it safely. In America, it's prohibited to bring in the exact same medication, making us the only major country subject to price controls! The excuse given is safety, even though European countries have already worked out the safety issues.

  2. Adam Haye, you don't actually know what you're talking about. Most of the drugs invented in the U.S. are manufactured overseas for starters. India has become one of the biggest manufacturers because they had the technology to do it dirt cheap. Also, even though the U.S. drug companies are saving money manufacturing overseas, they are not passing the savings on to Americans. Furthermore, the reason drugs MADE BY AMERICAN BIG PHARMA are cheaper in Europe and other countries, is because those countries NEGOTIATE drug prices. America does NOT negotiate drug prices. It was even written into Medicare Part D that the government would not be allowed to negotiate prices. Also, European countries can trade with each other and find the lowest price for any given medication. They are able to do this safely, while our own FDA tells us we can't shop around in a safe way. To sum it up, American drug companies get their products made in the cheapest countries, sell those drugs to other countries at cheaper prices because those countries negotiate, and stick ONLY Americans with high prices and no ability to price shop among countries. AMERICANS PAY THE HIGHEST DRUG PRICES IN THE WORLD FOR THE EXACT SAME DRUGS MADE BY THE EXACT SAME COMPANIES.
