I have met very few fellow Americans who even think, let alone understand, the devastation there in civilian deaths and how many had to flee and become refugees. Clueless people go on about how "great" it is that we got rid of Saddam and liberated Iraq. Is it better to live in a stable dictatorship, or to be invaded and blown to pieces crossing the street or living as a refugee after losing your home and livelihood? The only people left are the ones who couldn't afford to leave. I used to follow an Iraqi woman's blog called "A Family In Baghdad" who started writing at the beginning of the war. Her own family had to leave because of the bombing around their house, her son was randomly thrown in jail on his way to college and they didn't know where he was for a while. A friend went out on an errand and was blown up. The stories she told are horrendous. The Iraqi refugees are also resented in the countries they fled to because they all need jobs. Some of the refugee women have had to turn to prostitution to survive. It's horrific.

To be fair, Colin Powell said he believed what he said at the UN, and later found out he had been lied to. Who knows, but that's what he said.
