  1. That's because the media likes to portray the times in extreme stereotypes. I was born in 1958, and I constantly hear younger generations give false ideas about what it was like growing up in the 1960s and 1970s.

  2. They are the Silent Generation, and future parents of the youngest Boomers. I was born in 1958, and my mother was 22 when I was born. These student are only four years younger than my mother. And my mother was actually one of the last of her friends to marry!

  4. Growing up into an adult was more of a goal back then. The average high school senior in the 1950s was only a year or two away from marriage and starting a family. They thought of themselves as budding adults, rather than as kids.
