@nilswestman4013 Our cat was diagnosed with advanced kidney disease the very day she died. The vet said we could try to keep her alive by forcing medicine down her throat every day, but we knew from experience how much she hated that, so opted to put her to sleep. The vet was so relieved.
We were supposed to drive to the vet the next day to put her to sleep, but she had a seizure at the hospital and stopped breathing.
At the moment of her death, I was at home and I just started crying hysterically without being told what happened. A couple of minutes later, the vet called to tell us the news. When I told him I started crying so hard without being told, he said, "Your souls are connected."
I'm sorry for your loss and mine too. We will be with them again.
We have wind chimes that seldom ring even in strong gusts of wind - they are hung in an odd place. The week after Button died, they rang constantly, more than they have in the 8 months we've lived in this place. On Thanksgiving, the one-week anniversary of her death, it was like a wind chime serenade here.
It stopped the next day and the wind chimes are like they were before.
