By the time a woman is ready to break up with you, she has probably spent an ice age trying to fix whatever is wrong within the relationship and been ignored. She's already done her grieving. Typically, men who say they were blindsided eventually admit they didn't take her complaints seriously enough. Women are very patient until it proves fruitless.

She's already done her share of grieving by the time she leaves. Typically, men will say they were blindsided, but eventually admit they didn't take her complaints seriously enough. Telling yourselves that older women can't date is one of the biggest myths men tell each other. I do not see it in the real world. Right off the top of my head, I can think of a couple of women in their sixties I know. One has dated and is now in a relationship. The other is a widow whose husband died a few years ago and she is dating TWO men (no sex) and is constantly going out with them. Also, there is a new phenomenon that's come out in studies. Among older couples who are dating, with both being divorced or widowed, it's the women who refuse to remarry while the men are wanting marriage. The main reason the women don't want marriage is that they already nursed their husband until he died, and don't feel up to reliving that experience again.

@Mudworld I'm talking about very specific problems between them in the relationship. Not abstract things, but things that need a specific outcome - and the men just don't take her complaint seriously enough to make a change. This has been long known about in couples therapy. It is the reason I got a divorce. I had told my husband for years that I was not going to be able to withstand a major problem of his forever. After saying this for years with nothing changing, I walked. He was in shock because he obviously didn't believe me. I'm keeping the reason private, but you would have walked too in my position.

@Genevasplaytime I think you should reflect on why you dislike women having options in life, as if they are less than human. Whether a woman gives you clues or outright states the problem, do you really want her to threaten to PUNISH you??? You are an adult. She tells you what isn't working and graciously waits for you to address it and show you take it seriously. If you don't address it, she concludes you don't want to or don't care about her. At that point, there is nothing left to do but leave. Red Pill men love to say that women in bad relationships "chose" wrong, but when women do the responsible thing and get out of a bad relationship, then those women have "too many options". There is no winning.

I see tons of women online who want nothing to do with men. Even five years ago this was rare.

That is the myth men tell each other.

@chad-9171 Where do you live? I don't see it where I live. The girls who wanted an older man were very much in the minority. Most were very turned off by the idea. From what I've read, it's more common in third world countries with less resources - so it's a survival mechanism for the women there.

@chad-9171 Where do you live? In the US they only rarely choose older guys unless you mean about 4 or 5 years older. There are studies on it. There's also a study showing that the closer in age the couple is, the lower the divorce rate is.

@chad-9171 4 or 5 years older is common - but still, there is that study showing the closer in age, the lower the divorce rate. Even being the same age results in a lower divorce rate than there being only one year difference. As the age difference goes up, the divorce rates also goes up. The audience here though believes, or wants to believe, that women commonly want to be with men who are 10 to 20 years older. They are wrong.

There are studies that show that when it comes to serious illness, men leave their sick wives more often than women leave their sick husbands.

@LA-wv7gf Yep. So many of these guys have a script running in their heads that doesn't correlate with the real world.
