  1. Poor cops. They tried so hard to reason this out and it seemed logical at the time. Who would have ever thought it would turn out the way it did? It's a bizarre ending. EDIT: I had no idea when I watched this that an eyewitness had called the cops to report that HE WITNESSED BRIAN HITTING GABBY! My opinion now is that the cops dropped the ball and totally ignored the witness. It is common for abused women to be afraid to tell the truth and blame themself.
