  4. In the Netherlands we've the rightwing Tory like rule to thank for that though. 22 years of rightwing rule. 30% tax cuts for work immigration and they barely build any houses. Asylum seekers don't have the money at all to buy houses. The pensions aren't a problem at all in the Netherlands and jobs are neither. We actually have the best pension system in the world and a low jobless number since i was born in the 80s. It's where we shine the most.

  6. The tax is the problem for me. Italy has lower income tax than my country the Netherlands. I'm now paying more than a italian. Everything is also cheaper in Italy too. Italy also has free healthcare which my country doesn't have. Taxes have to be the same all over Europe. It's not fair that Italy has that high of a debt and they get more than me. I really like the EU, but this is some BS! I would considering to vote my country out of the EU because of this. Maybe we should start a south and northern EU. All of the high income tax is in the north and low income tax in the south. I rather start a EU with Germany, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Finland, Austria, Liechtenstein and Sweden. They at least got their shit together. They all pay high income tax. A 1% tax in my country isn't the same as a 1% tax in Italy. In Euro's that 1% tax is also more than Italy, but that i can live with.

  15. In 15 years time Hungary is a normal EU nation. The young people will grow older. Most 50 year olds there speak Russian as their second language and are very conservative. The younger generation all speak english and a lot of them study abroad. Things are gonna change there. It will take time.

  22. We have higher grocery cost than Germany by far in The Netherlands. Germany has one of the cheapest groceries of the wealthy EU countries. We go shopping in Germany and Belgium for cheap groceries. Some items are half the price as in the Netherlands.

  28.  @artman12  We all should've been in a recession by now in Europe. My country the Netherlands has to cut back spending too this year. We actually did very well here the last years. During COVID we actually had growth. We sell a lot of agricultural goods in the Netherlands, so we had benefit of the food prices going up. We have one of the biggest rises of housing prices in Europe though. 8% to 10% rise expected this year again. It's extremely bad here because we are one of the most dense populated countries of Europe. We got 17 million people. Sweden, Norway and Finland together have 20 million people in comparison. The 1 kg cheese blocks went up like 200% overnight in my country, meats and bread too. Blame those Russians and some price gauging. Do rich people have fixed rate mortgages and poorer people floating mortgages in Sweden?

It's actually the rightwing in the EU that doesn't want to invest that much. We have a green city project which included Belgium and Germany, but had massive resistance from the right. It included to a massive expansion of the techindustry. The biggest problem is that not all countries benefit of those expansions. They all think nationally. You see this in the weapons industry too. That's why expansion is so slow.

The only reason the US is winning in tech over China is because ASML doesn't give their EUV machines to China. We keep that in Europe and the US goes back in time 8 years in tech. Hence the interest rate being lower. EU debt is 95.6% and US debt is 137.20%. A difference of many trillions. The EU is actually paying off debt and the US is losing money. The richer countries in the EU have 80% debt less than the US. Lets take germany a example. Germany has 66.46% debt to gdp. They've massive amount of room to spend compared to the US. They always say that Germany is in trouble, but they kept their debt low for times like this. They're lending money now. 100 billion for the army and 60 billion for a low energy bill for people. They could hold out for 20 years doing this before their debt percentage hits that of the US. They also be competitive on the market. It's a second way to stay competitive. It's actually pretty smart keeping debt low for times like these. If the US would be Germany it would be in a lot of trouble. The US has nothing to fall back on. They can't even cut social programs because they barely have any.

Countries like Germany and the Netherlands have around 60% debt to GDP. The US has 120%. The value of the Euro will rise again when the war is over. Growth is important, but debt is too. A little growth for 8.7 trillion is just bad.

I live down south in the Netherlands. Not anywhere near Amsterdam. In a smaller city. Average house prices are crazy here compared to other countries in Europe. Investors are all over these cheap houses. With a rise of 16% last year you know why.

  297. The start of last year it really started. We heard from Gazprom they were taking losses and taxes and interest rates went higher. 40% gdp comes from oil and gas in Russia. Trump his DMZ deal won't change anything either, because sanctions will still stand with a ceasefire. The EU won't ever take a peace deal, giving away Ukrainian land to Russia. Only if Zelensky wants to. I don't think he wants to.

They've half the debt of France on a higher gdp. It's not even close to comparable. Germany has a 10× better economy than the US too. You can have good numbers of growth and a high stock market in the US, but if you borrow 11 trillion in 8 years it's going awful. The US borrowed half the gdp of the entire EU in 8 years and Trump wants to cut taxes and deport the cheap labor.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Insane!!!! I saw on FOX news that Trump his new plans would add another 6 trillion in debt. Money apparently grows on trees in the US.   316. Italy and Greece got billions from Northern Europe. They would be living on the street without Northern Europe. Spain and Portugal have a pipeline from Africa for energy, that's why they aren't as affected as Northern Europe. Portugal now has a terrible inequality problem. Rents in Lisbon are around 2000 Euro's and the average salary is €1,463 a month. It's a country full of expats. That's definitely gonna blow up in their faces.
