@Sadbuttrue-ThatSwedishGirl We got a lot of business in the Netherlands from the UK after Brexit. Just because of tariffs. It was way more profitable for them to buy abroad and don't pay the extra tariffs into the UK , especially when your import goes to the biggest port in Europe named Rotterdam port already. You would need to set up a new trade route and pay extra tariffs. Way easier to move your business to the EU, certainly if you had a office in the EU and Britain already.

@springer3783 Shell had other problems. We had a whole thing about gas drilling and also a case with Shell about environmental issues in Africa about a oil leak. Earthquakes destroyed houses in the North of the Netherlands and became a huge political thing. Lots of protest and stuff, also directly against Shell. Then a leak came Shell had a secret tax deal with the Dutch government too. It was a Sstorm. I definitely don't miss them, they were barely paying any tax. Where do you go when you want to pay the same low taxes? Yep, the UK. The fossil fuel prices are the highest ever and your government is cutting services, that shows you how much tax they pay. It's probably 0% considering they left to the UK and my country is the biggest corporate taxhaven of world. Growth says nothing. The budget deficit for 2023 totalled 120.7 billion pounds ($149 billion) for the UK. The financial deficit (net borrowing) of general government amounted to 87.4 billion euros in Germany. The UK almost borrowed double the amount and are gutting public services.
