@ian38018a A republic, based on the Latin phrase res publica ('public affair'), is a state in which political power rests with the public through their representatives—in contrast to a monarchy. It comes from the Roman Republic and Greece. Guess what they also invent? Yep, democracy. Republic means literally public affair, which basically means democracy. In the US constitution there are voting rights, which makes the US a democracy by the constitution.

@mjones4083 Trump borrowed 7 trillion in 4 years in his presidency and all his numbers were way worse than Biden. Even before Corona.
