Record high oil production 13 million barrels already in the States and they use 20 million barrels a day. 40% of the remaining import comes from Canada and Canada can close or blow up the pipeline to and from Alaska. Where the biggest US oil field is. The US is only sufficient in gas and not in oil. They don't have the oil fields for that and oil fields are running low too in the US. A factor everybody forgets. Oil isn't forever, neither is gas. The US uses as much oil as the EU and China together. They would need to cut back on oil use. That's how they combat that problem, but Trump is doing the polar opposite.
