Not true. The 3nm chip that is in a Nvidia GPU is only possible because of ASML in the Netherlands. If it was US chip technology Nvidia would make 7nm. The US can't do better than 7nm chips. It's actually Europe that applies Moore's law to chips. 7nm is the 1000 series GPU's from 2018.

@spartancrown No it's not. China is making chips with the older ASML machines. We used to sell them to the US and China. In what way would China suddenly lost that ability. 🤔

@BCFC954 ASML in Europe applies Moore's law to chips, not TSMC. Without ASML it would be 7nm. The 1000 series videocards are 7nm. The GTX 1090 is the best what the US can do from 2018. Intel can do 7nm without ASML.

@spartancrown Because ASML doesn't sell to China. China can. Taiwan can. You don't need the US at all. TMSC is Taiwanese. South Korea can and Japan can. The US ain't special. Everybody can make a silicon waver.

@rustygates3367 True, i suggest you look up which EUV machine from which company they use for that. AMD uses the same ASML high NA EUV machine as intel. Nvidia too. TMSC, all of them. "ASML is the sole manufacturer of high-end extreme ultraviolet lithography systems, which are essential for creating advanced chips. TSMC relies on ASML's EUV technology to manufacture cutting-edge semiconductors for various clients, including tech behemoths like Apple and Nvidia." Chips technology without ASML is like having a car without a engine.
