I was a non European student & was traveling to Rotterdam from Lyon, France. As I reached, Rotterdam, the immigration/customs officer won't let me go out since I had a residence permit and not French citizenship!! I had my evening program set with a 5 star hotel reserved & paid for. I got real angry and threatened the customs & the airline people with legal action and waited at a coffee shop so that they sort themselves out!! Half an hour later, the customs chief with an airline guy came and handed me a special visa and I was able to go out & enjoy myself in the lovely city!! Else, in my work or personal life, I rarely had any racism issues! In fact, I often had privileged access to a lot of stuff!! I never understood the racism stuff and always found that it was quite dumb to discriminate on the basis of skin color etc.! Those who did I thought, insult their own humanity before insulting any one else!!

@selinab140 I never said that racism doesn't exist!! Of course it does & very much so!! Even today, media & political treatment by Europeans/Americans against the global southern or eastern nations is often inhuman, racist & political propaganda!! On an individual level however, the situation can be quite different!! Great wise men & women of the world; especially from the east; India/Asia.., have always said that the world starts from self!! So the "other" is more often than not a mirror of the self!! Change yourself & the world will change!! That assertion in no way takes away the racism suffered by people!! I just shared my experience as you shared yours!! Playing victim without seeing self, the world & the cosmos in a holistic manner is well.. ignorance. One can only recommend some Yoga in these situations ;))!!

I am not a fan of China or dictatorships BUT.. western media's portraying of NON western leaders & nations is a PURE political narrative which is utterly biased & 100% disinformation!! Europe & USA should remember that their past is full of genocide of natives, slavery, loot, exploitation & colonization of the rest of the world!! DW & Western media in general will be more credible if they show western nations with the same contempt!! I would be more interested to know what kind of human history is taught in German schools!! I hope Germany is not like France or UK where history books are manipulated, crimes of colonization not really talked about, some cultures/civilizations have been denigrated or minimized, contributions of other cultures have been wrongly attributed to Europeans instead of their rightful owners!! This is especially true for India/Asia but also native civilizations in Africa & Americas!!

What matters is NOT that they are attracted to growth BUT what ideology & mind set drives them!! IF the mindset is all inclusive on a global scale taking care of humans, all life on planet & the nature, then it's sustainable & sane, else it's NOT!!

BUT.. One needs to be more worried about the state of affairs in European autocratic partner states like China, Pakistan or Africa than democratic India where there are sufficient people working to uplift the poor!!
